Top Breakout WRs to Target in 2020

Every season, fantasy owners think they have a slam dunk in the first two rounds, but true fantasy championships are won within the trenches of mid-late round picks.

Today, we will focus within the Wide Receiver group. Let’s have a look at some of the potential breakouts with low average ADPs in the month of June.

Courtland Sutton:

When I think of a scary WR body prototype, I think of Courtland Sutton. Coming in at 6’4” 216 pounds, Sutton’s size alone is a reason why he is a must have in your lineups in the middle rounds. With an ADP of WR25, owners should expect Sutton to surpass this rank easily.

The WR finished the 2019 season at WR19 in PPR amongst WR’s last year and will be the consensus Number one coming into 2020 for Denver.  With all of the new weapons being brought in for Drew Lock, defenses will need to be reliant on Zone or 1 on 1 man coverage for Sutton, which should help him surpass his 2019 numbers.

Prediction: 126 Targets, 70 Receptions for 1200 yards and 6 TDs.

DK Metcalf:

DK should be the focal point in the Seahawks offense. Although Tyler Lockett is still there, I fully expect Metcalf to take the bulk of the targets in 2020.

His ADP is right around where he finished in 2019 as WR28. Earlier this offseason Offensive Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer revealed that the rets of the coaching staff discussed moving Metcalf around the field and utilizing him specifically the slot, making it a nightmare matchup for defenses in the middle of the field.

Metcalf has all of the intangibles to develop in the solid 228 pound connection that QB Russell Wilson is looking for.

Prediction: 115 Targets, 65 Receptions for 1100 yards and 8 TDs

Darius Slayton:

Slayton’s current ADP is coming in around WR41 right now, which is crazy to me. The rookie finished as WR35 in 2019 when it comes to PPR statistics. I can fully expect the 2nd year wide receiver to surpass his current ADP easily in 2020.

The now sophomore receiver took advantage of absences from Sterling Shephard, Evan Engram, Golden Tate and Saquon Barkley to lead the team in receiving yards and receiving TDs last year with 48 receptions for 740 yards and 8 TDs.

With a new coaching staff, revamped offensive line and a second year QB in Daniel Jones, I could see Slayton as Jones’ favorite target in 2020. He should be a perfect mid-late flier to add to your draft boards.

Prediction: 90 Targets, 60 receptions for 900 yards and 5 TDs.

Diontae Johnson:

With Big Ben coming back, Johnson’s potential should be through the roof as he made JuJu Smith Schuster and AB top 10 Fantasy WRs.

I can see the same happening with Johnson. The WR currently has an ADP of WR44, but I would expect him to be in the WR30-35 range at the completion of the 2020 season. Johnson has the ability to do some special things on the football field and I can’t see James Washington taking the Number Two job away from him.

Johnson finished second on the Steelers in receiving yards with 680 and his five receiving touchdowns led the entire team.

Any player to show some sign of life for the Steelers offense in 2019 should be labeled a hero

Prediction: 95 targets, 62 receptions for 800 yards and 4 TDs
